Medhat Garoub

Chairman

Medhat Garoub founded the Law Firm of Garoub in 1994 and currently serves as the Firm’s Chairman. He has over 30 years of experience in high-stakes corporate and commercial litigation Mr. Garoub also has substantial experience in advising and assisting management and supervisory boards in corporate governance and regulatory matters, domestically and internationally. Clients regularly seek his counsel for the practical, commercial advice he offers with respect to their most challenging matters and complex disputes. In addition, Mr. Garoub is widely recognized as a leading real estate and corporate lawyer. He delivers creative and strategic advice to private equity sponsors and funds, government institutions, and operating companies. His experience spans several types of transactions and asset classes, with a particular focus on complex commercial transactions and legal challenges.

 


Ahmed Garoub

Partner

Ahmed co-manages the firm’s Corporate Practice Group as well as the Litigation Group. He advises some of the firm’s most high-profile clients, including foreign and domestic businesses, financial institutions, media and entertainment companies, and semi-governmental entities. His corporate transactional practice and experience focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and general corporate matters across a wide range of industries.

He holds a B.S. in Law with honors from King Abdulaziz University. He has received a Master of Laws with distinction from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., in Securities and Financial Regulations. Ahmed has extensive practice experience through various positions such as working for the Honorable Judge Marian Blank Horn of the United States Court of Federal Claims, consulting for the World Bank Group, and was a Fellow at the Institute of International Economic Law.

 


Bart Fisher

Senior Counsel

Mr. Fisher has decades of international legal experience. The Huffington Post describes Bart as “high-powered and well-connected.” He specializes in cross-border intellectual property transactions and advises some of the world’s largest media distribution and broadcasting companies. Mr. Fisher has worked on the financing, production, and distribution of content across various mediums within the media sector. Bart has advised more than a dozen major television broadcasters in several countries, including the United States, with regards to cross-border licensing deals and international trade disputes. He has also worked on numerous deals utilizing tax incentives around the world and specializes in structuring international licensing and content distribution. His work for financiers includes acting for banks, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, tax funds, and hedge funds, often involving secured lending and complex multi-party financing arrangements.

He received various degrees and recognitions, including a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.

 


Abdullah Alkayat

Senior Counsel

Abdullah specializes in corporate transactional and regulatory matters with an extensive focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and general corporate and complex securities issues across a wide range of industries. Abdullah started his career at the Kuwait Public Prosecution Office as a Public Funds and Commercial Affairs Prosecutor.

He has also worked as a Special Assistant at the United States Law Library of Congress in Washington, D.C, visiting professor at the prestigious Cornell Law School in the United States, and as a Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law and Business as well as the Berkeley Global Corporate Law Society. He earned a Juridical Science Doctorate and an LL.M. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law.

 


Hassoun Al-Hassoun

Senior Counsel

Hassoun Al-Hassoun has over twenty years of experience in trial, appellate, and litigation across a wide range of substantive areas, including securities law, corporate governance, regulatory actions, restructuring, and commercial litigation. He has successfully worked on matters with an array of clients, including but not limited to commercial entities, financial institutions, and semi-government institutions within the Saudi Arabian legal market.

Mr. Al-Hassoun graduated from Imam Mohammed Bin Saud University and specializes in Islamic and Shariah Law.

 


Zane Dashty

Senior Associate

Zane represents clients in the entertainment and media industries, advising on all business and legal aspects relating to the financing, production, licensing, distribution, and exploitation of various intellectual property assets. Zane drafts and negotiates agreements involving intellectual property licensing, software development, SaaS, marketing and advertising services, sourcing and distribution agreements, and other commercial and transactional matters. His clients include a broad array of media companies — studios, digital platforms, cable networks, independent production companies, etc. — as well as financial institutions and various commercial entities.

Zane received his Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as an executive director of the Georgetown Entertainment and Media Association. He has also earned a Master of Laws with honors from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law with a specialization in Media, Entertainment, and Technology Law and was awarded the Masin Family Foundation Award for highest honors in Intellectual Property.
